This year my family decided a trip down the coast to Malibu in the new RV would be the perfect way to have some holiday season family fun! With a view like the one above and the perfect Malibu weather its hard not to be in a pleasant mood while soaking in the whole experience from road trip to destination!
One essential to making the road trip enjoyable is making sure you take the stops you want to and have a little self- indulgance (if you're in a moving vehicle for 4+ hours you desere that burger and fries). We of course had to stop at In-N-Out since it was Jack's first time in California and since being a vegetarian bares me from certain foods there, I indulged with a cholocate shake and fries (equally satisfying). For a day of eating and sitting though, you need to break out your comfiest clothes. My road trip essential outfit is an over-sized v-neck with some joggers and slide on shoes, topped with a jean jacket for the chillier climate and the ever-necessary sunglasses (to still look put-together without eye-makeup on). For an always comfortable and cute roadtrip outfit try this t-shirt , these joggers (or these ones in a marled print, OR THESE velvet ones) , this essential denim jacket , and these sneaker slides (p.s. all underlined words are links to the items I'm talking about )
For the long haul, always make sure to have an excellent book to help keep you sane and pre-occupied (especially after hour 5 on the road). This book by Lauren Groff if ah-mazing and I highly recommend checking it out, you'll be completely absorbed!
When we finally reached our destination, Malibu Beach RV Park, we were thrilled to welcome the upcoming three days filled with relaxation and this amazing view!
Out first day was all about exploring the beach down below (just a quick walk down the hill we were on) and taking in the amazing weather! Jack and I spent some time on top of the RV for the best views and then made our way back to solid ground for some reading and an afternoon drink. (My dad made this great drink that involved blood orange italian soda and vodka and the rest I'm not sure of, but wow it was good). For a day of lounging mixed with exploring I chose to wear the same slouchy shirt from traveling and my go-to jeans for when I want to stay comfortable! The shirt I recommend is linked abover, but for some great jeans check out these jeans or these jeans with this bralette (for more comfort), and finished with this choker (proceeds go to a good cause!) and these super fun rose gold shades.
On the last night of our RV adventure, we decided to re-assimilate with the rest of society and had dinner at Nobu! Sorry for the low-quality pic above, but we figured bringing the good (large) camera to a nice restaurant would be a bit much. With limited packing space and only a tiny bathroom to get ready in, I made sure to pack nice outfits that didn't wrinkle and could roll up easily. For dinner I wore this skirt , this top , and these booties as an easily packable outfit that hardly wrinkles in a suitcase!I also love this plaid skirt and this layering top as another outfit option. More importantly than my outfit though, is what we got to eat. The food was even more impressive and my favorite things that we ordered were the Yellowtail Sashimi w/ Jalapeno and the Squid "Pasta". We went to Nobu on a chillier night so we sat indoors where the atmosphere was great with dim lighting and the view of the fire lamps on the back deck overlooking the ocean. It was a perfect last night of our trip!
The family RV trip to Malibu really provided some great rest & relaxation. I can't wait for our next trip back!
