For those that don't follow Pantone, they set the color mood for each fashion season, the reason burgundy had a come back? Pantone. The reason we saw that light/ blush pink everywhere last year? Pantone. Well this year I don't know if you've noticed, but green is the color of the year for Pantone and this fall I. Am. Loving. IT. Thats why I wanted to share some of my favorite green pieces I've found for fall and some lusting after.
Green was chosen as the color of the year because it symbolizes revitalization and new beginnings. Which is why it is the perfect way to make a fashion statement in a new season. With all my new beginnings as of recent, its no wonder I've been drawn to to this enigmatic shade. For fall I've seen it most often used in forest, olive, or emerald green shade.
Another reason I've been so on board with the green color movement this fall: there has been a shade of green for just about everyone. No matter the hair color or skin tone I promise you could find a green piece you love. I tried to pick them out in statement pieces like my ruffle wrap dress and layered fringe skirt! I've picked out both of them from a boutique called E Leigh's.
I think an outfit determines who you want to be that day, it really says a lot! Color is one of the biggest parts of that outfit persona. Green is a color that symbolizes revitalization, vitality, and the unity and beauty of the natural world making it not only a wonderful color to wear, but to also personify.
It's all about these shades of green for this season and I recommend going out and finding your shade and rocking it this fall/winter! I've included some of my favorite green pieces below for you all to click on and shop!
This Bell-sleeve sweater , this suede moto jacket, these leather Vans slip-ons , This velvet wrap dress, this jacquard shirt dress, this midi floral wrap dress , this suede mini skirt
It's no secret that "everything old becomes new again" and that couldn't be more true for this fall fashion season. Nostalgia seems to be the vibe and street style has taken that and run with it. No decade seems to stand out more in fashion right now though then the 70's (incorporating a bit of the late 60's if we're going to be specific). For women this was a time of "owning it"- being a bad ass boss lady and fashionista all at once was the new aspiration (my current aspiration), and thats resonating with women again!
Nothing says 70's more than corduroys and I'm loving their return to main stream fashion. First in mini-skirt form and now getting bolder with high-rise crop flare cords like these ones from Urban Outfitters! Although I'm 99.9% sure I had this exact pair in 1st grade, I have no problem with wanting to wear them all day every day now as a 22 year old! Corduroy is definitely a fabric you'll be seeing a lot for fall street-style not only in pants, but also jackets, skirts, and even dresses.
It wouldn't be complete without a bell-sleeve top like this one. Featuring, of course, the plunging neckline and flowwy-ness of the times. This look gives all the flare and then some of a 70's gal in 2017. for a more every-day look wear it with smocked top or simple tee for the perfect cool-girl street style. Equally as quintessential to 70's style as the bell sleeve, are the round sunglasses with colored lenses, like these ones I'm wearing from Rayban. A subtle way to wear 70's style every day!
Now on to channeling some Stevie Nicks (minus the signature hat), with a more bohemian side to the 70's style. The jumpsuit is as iconic as Stevie is to the 70's style era and always brings the glam up a notch! This ruffled yellow one from Anthropologie is now sold out, but this yellow print jumpsuit is a perfect alternative!
Whether you're rocking an awesome yellow jumpsuit or white tee and jeans, the neck scarf is the perfect touch of nostalgic style. Mine is an old one from Target, but I'm loving this other printed one from Target too, I think it adds a perfect bit of sass and glam to an outfit. Of course the whole look wouldn't be complete without large gold hoops. I opted for a modern take on it with these ones from Madewell. Nothing says 70's glam without some over-sized gold hoops, am I right?! It wouldn't be the full look without mentioning the key shoe choice, mules, the shoe of the season. I've been living in these DV for Target ones.
Perfect your fall street style with trends from 70's, whether their big or small they add a little flare to an outfit. After all, the 70's started the rocker chick style, everyday sequins, and the jumpsuit.. I think it's about time we come back to the styles that got us to the fashionable point we're at today.
Whether you are just tuning in to my blog and personal style or have been following along for a while, there is one thing you have probably quickly learned about me, I loved a good pair of (what I term) "fun pants". This meaning, any pants that deviate from you're average denim. I love jeans, don't get me wrong, but when I can find pants with a high-waist, elastic waist-band, and flattering leg-width, I am all in. And that's why I am hear to confess my love for these Marine Layer black crepe pants. Talk about versatile, I styled them to suit four different looks for all kinds of occasions and if I could, I would've styled them with 10 more looks! From casual to chic and everything in between, you need these go-to pants. Check out four ways I've styled these great pants below.
Coffee + Errands
Another everyday fashion love of mine, graphic tees, band tees in particular. So why not combine fun pants will cool tees?! I paired the black crepe pants with my favorite Jimi Hendrix t-shirt for a casual look while out to coffee and running errands all day.
Even with an over-sized fitting tee, you can make the look flattering to your shape by tucking it in to these pants. They're the perfect high-rise to pull off this look for coffee shops and errand- filled days galore!
One of the best parts of this outfit is the ability to just mix up the top to take it from one look to the next. For my two day-time looks I kept the same printed loafers, gold hoops, Cat-eye sunglasses, and a saddlebag purse! That's what makes these pants such a staple, you can instantly change the mood of your outfit with the swap of a top! What makes them the best during say-time is that even though I sat and stood in them throughout the day, creases were minimal (blessed) and the waistline never stretched, meaning no annoying adjustments all day! They're light-weight and low maintenance; perfect for moving about town on a busy day.
Lunch or Brunch Date
Since these pants can make you instantly chic (even, me) all it takes is a simple change to accomplish a perfect look for a lunch date or day of perusing downtown. It's hard to find the perfect in-between from just a t-shirt and jeans to a skirt and blouse. This look is for all those style limbo moments when your caught between too casual and too dressed-up!
This striped scoop tee from Madewell is another piece I picked up in my recent early-fall shopping haul and it has been perfect for high-waisted bottoms! I loved having striped tees as a great go-to, but I love how this one has fun colors and has a great fit that's not too long which makes it perfect for a front tuck to pants like these.
I wore this look when Jack and I were spending the day around town! We wanted to stop for a little mid-afternoon snack and were stuck trying to find a place. We ended up at Wine + Market and had a perfect time snacking on a fresh-made charcuterie tray and drinking beer while we talked and waited out the afternoon rain. The perfect lunch date with the perfect person in some darn perfect pants.
A Night Out
Who doesn't love an all black outfit?! It's easy to dress these pants up by just throwing on this short black camisole with them and some mules for a trendy night-out 'fit! I got my top in Italy this spring from H&M and I've loved how easy it is to throw on when you can't think of anything else to wear out (AND now its on sale)
One of my favorite things about this look is that it looks like a matching set, or even a jumpsuit! Its so perfect for a night out, its easy and light and is multi-seasonal if you throw on a leather or denim jacket with it! I switched the accessories out besides the purse, for a dressier feel. All of the gold accessories pop perfectly against the all black look, with a lariat necklace (feat. also in this post) and these Madewell gold hoop statement earrings you've got a great night-out look with just a few easy switches from the day time look.
Dinner + A Movie
Outfit number four in these pants, is all about a laid back night out. A light-weight cropped sweater like this one is perfect to pair with theses pants for a cute and comfy look while out for the evening! I picked up this sweater from a local boutique called Serendipity859 and I think its perfect for transitioning seasons. I loved playing up the sheerness of the sweater by just wearing a barrette underneath to add some edge.
Jack and I just went to a local french restaurant, walked around, and watched a movie at home for our crazy wild date night! This outfit was perfect though and my mules (my favorite heel option) were even perfect on our walk! This look made me feel le chic at the french restaurant, but mostly because of my hair scarf adding the perfect extra chic touch. A nice dinner doesn't always have to require a dress or skirt, these pants are the perfect trendy ( & comfy) alternative!
I think the point that these pants are super awesome and versatile has definitely been made. For similar items to each of these looks, check below to shop things I recommend styling with the Marine layer black crepe pants as well! I 10/10 recommend making these a staple in your fall wardrobe friends!
Lately I've been feeling like a life size Flat Stanley.. and I am not mad about it one bit! Traveling to different cities and exploring my own city as well each week, I've found I have the most fun when I am on the move, meeting new people and trying new things! Just like the Flat Stanley we all remember and love from elementary school I feel that I take away something new with me each time I visit somewhere. Whether it be a new friend, a new lesson, or tangible things (*cough* clothes/accessories *cough*).
One thing I have taken the most out of this summer's travels is the importance of packing with versatility. More often than not I am popping out of the airport or from my car ride and right in to a dinner or other plans out and about! Travel wear has become a very important part of my wardrobe and the most important piece to this outfit puzzle is having a great bag to transition with where ever I go! What better solution to this than the Flat Stanley Pouch from India Hicks! This pouch gives the Flat Stanley name, a stylish upgrade for all of my fellow travelers out there.
It is everything I need in a great travel bag. I can throw it in my carry-on tote bag to carry a few essentials in and then take it out and use it as a perfectly cute little clutch for post travel dinner and activities. I am so obsessed with fun graphics and witty sayings, so naturally I have fallen in loveeee with the "count your lucky stars" front design. Something thats extra sweet and fun is the star printed lining on the inside ( I love a good lining). This pouch takes the hassle out of having to pack an extra bag in your already full suitcase, with its perfect versatility from pouch to clutch when traveling!
One of the things about the India Hicks brand that I love (besides their perfectly chic and cool pieces) is not only is it a new brand, but they have such a strong brand image! They are all about empowering women (um, love) and without a brick and mortar location, they use women who are accomplished and incredible to sell the product woman to woman at trunk shows. If you're in Lexington, Kentucky you can shop with Jessica Gwaltney, our local India Hicks style ambassador, who gave me great suggestions on travel pieces for my most recent trip (aka the Flat Stanley Pouch, which I ADORE). Make sure to get ahold of Jessica on instagram as @indiahickslexington to set up a trunk show for you and your gal pals or shop through her link here!
Looking effortless and chic post plane or car ride is something that I have finally figured out after trial and error (lotta error, lets just say I've found out the hard way that ripped denim shorts on a plane aren't always comfy and you should deff stick to low heels or flats). I've always found a simple breezy dress like this one from Amuse Society ( on sale!) is a great travel go-to. Wear it with sandals on the plane and slip on some mules like these Dolce Vita for Target ones when you're out of the airport and on the go! I always travel with a hat handy, so whether your a baseball hat kinda gal or love straw hats like this one from H&M its a great way to keep that travel hair in-check. You'll be chic from your airport gate to a dinner date at your destination!

Give a bunch of bloggers a theme, date, and time and we'll execute a brunch made in your Pinterest dreams! The Lexington blogger family decided it was time we get together and no way would be more fitting than at a mid-summers bohemian themed brunch! From the outfits to the food to the dreamy location and decor, everything about the brunch was a dream I only thought existed on Pinterest boards! What better place to rock my favorite summer staple, a boho wrap maxi dress!
The moment I heard about the brunch I knew exactly what kind of "look" I was going for and it just so happens to be a popular trend for the summer. Boho has always been a theme in-line with my wardrobe and style and this summer it has grown in trend! An outdoor brunch is the perfect place to have fun with the trend and mix it with your own style for the perfect look.
As luck would have it, the jumpsuit I originally ordered didn't come in on time, BUT lucky for me Target had a seriously adorable selection of boho styled maxi's and jumpsuits to chose from and I found this wrap maxi dress for under $30 (even more perfect)! I love wrap dresses because they are so so flattering on waistlines and add a cute little slit to play with when walking as well as making it way more comfortable and airy to sit in. The wrap dress is such a classic staple for any woman's closet, but using it in a maxi style like this navy palm one or a mini dress like this cream floral one with prints and patterns gives it an updated and trendier feel!
The actual brunch could not have been more picture-perfect and delicious! We were so lucky to have been hosted by The Barn at Springhouse, one of the most beautiful venues I have ever been to, honestly! Kayla Weber's (@kaylaweberart) family owns the barn and she helped to put together the decor that made the place look like it jumped out of a Pinterest board. Everyone contributed with some delicious food and Molly of @missmollyvintage provided the bar set-ups. One bar for the delicious and fresh mimosas and the other for making flower crowns the perfect final touch for our boho 'fits!
Our beautiful brunch would not have been complete without the help of the local businesses that provided us with some amazing products for our "swag bags" that I've shown below! Shop Local KY, AJ's Apothecary, Yarnbirds, Twenty Something, Blush Box Co., Morton James, Miss Molly Vintage, and Springhouse Gardens were ALL a part of helping to create our cute little gift bags!
We were able to capture this amazing morning thanks to Kirstie Dunston (Kirstie Dunston Photography) who was the photographer for the event! Thanks to her creative eye, I could show-off and highlight my brunch outfit for you all in a perfect way. There are a variety of ways to rock the wrap-maxi trend which make it a perfect go-to for any quick brunch look ( not to mention adjustable waistline for more avo-toast) A maxi wrap dress is totally your easy on-trend solution for a casual brunch with girlfriends or a brunch soiree that looks like it popped out of a Pinterest board!

The Fourth of July always seem to sneak up, just as June ends the patriotic holiday is here! If you're like me then you also have had minimal time to think of what red, white, and blue get-up you'll be wearing for America's birthday. Well thanks to my procrastination I've had to come up with some quick wardrobe fixes for a last minute Fourth of July outfit, and each one is omitting your probably already have in your room or can quickly snag before you head to your 4th of July festivities!
Summer is the season of the little white dress. It is the perfect go-to for any occasion you have, but especially for fourth of July festivities. Pair it with a red bandanna like mentioned above for whole American themed look. This dress, or this dress (which also has stripes!) are great last minute options from Target and Old Navy!
Of course no beach side outfit is complete without a cute way to cover up, some sunnies, and the perfect beach bag! I happened upon my pom-pom beach bag at a pop-up in Pottery Barn (so perfect). The pop-up was Peggy's Gifts & Accessories, a local boutique, and the owner told me the bags were all made in the Carribean ( I always love a good back-story). I'm using my fave high-waisted denim shorts from the GAP and this Amuse Society Kimono as my cover-up options. Finally to top off my looks I have my retro- vibe cat-eye sunglasses from Draper James along with my usual rose gold Raybans and marbled Quay sunglasses from previous posts.
For the more casual moments on our trip I've packed some light-weight pieces! A sleeveless button down top and a fun tee are great essentials for any trip, to tuck into a skirt or denim shorts like I've planned to do. This one from the Who What Wear line at Target and this Staycation tee are both perfect & affordable! Pair either perfectly with the Gap shorts from above or some chambray tie-waist bottoms (pictured above & on sale). Swap out the linen button down for an off-the-shoulder top like this red one for a casual dinner outfit. These are easy casual combinations to making packing way more efficient!

2. Keep it Light-Hearted
I am a firm believer in celebrations and that nothing is more stylish than a happy face! This is a time to celebrate! Wooh! You made it! No need to dwell on the past or the future, your graduation is about now. This is your day and you spent four years earning it so take a breath, eat as much cake as you want, and drink that extra glass of champagne!
3. Your Shoes Will Define Your Day
Alright so that title was melodramatic. BUT the shoes you pick are so, so important! You will spend quite a few hours in them, sitting, standing, possibly even dancing ( I mean you are graduating so why not)! Which is why picking out ones that are actually, for real (not just fooling yourself) comfortable, is so important. A solid block heel or a wedge with a platform for good support is my absolute go-to! Nothing ruins a mood or day more than fresh blisters and a sore arch. So keep your shoes comfy and true to you on this eventful day!
4. Au Naturale
You are beautiful. So show it! A good natural look will always outshine over-done make-up and hair. Not to mention this is quite the trend right now in cosmetics. Highlight your natural beauty with simple make-up that shows off you! I recommend a little highlighter on your cheek bones, a small swipe of bronzing powder for color, lightly filling in your brows, and a big swipe of some lash-lengthening mascara to achieve a look that accentuates your own beauty!
5. Treat Yourself
Bring out your inner-boujee self and treat yourself on your special day! You only Graduate college once (under-grad at least) so go to that trendy new restaurant in a hot new outfit to celebrate your success! More casual? Indulge in a large pizza and some Ice Cream! Whatever you do, do something for yourself that makes you feel special. Four years of nights in the lib studying, crappy dorms, and ramen for dinner have earned you a celebratory night of indulgent food or a fancy restaurant! Theres no better way to go out in style than by treating yourself!
Most importantly though is to remember how proud of yourself you should be. Whether you have a job lined up or not, you did it! A degree shows dedication and passion and I think there are no better qualities to have. Be proud and be yourself, because theres nothing more stylish than that!
(Peep Below for some recommended items to help you stay stylish for graduation)
This is such an easy way to start wearing this accessory! For me it was just a little throwback to when I wore bandanas for almost two years straight in elementary school (ahh the early 2000's). This way has a much chicer twist to it though. I chose this neutral colored geometric print scarf from Target since it has colors that match with just about everything!
To put it in I twisted the scarf so it was in the shape of a headband, flipped my hair over and then tied it on the front part of my head! I prefer to tuck the extra pieces under so the scarf has a knot-twisted look, but you can also leave the bows out for a a more femme look! Either way, this is a super cute way to keep your hair back in the upcoming humid and warm months!
How much chicer could you get?! I'll admit when first trying this I was afraid I'd look like a Parisian poser. This added neck accessory has ended up being one of my favorite way to instantly dress-up any outfit! It instantly made my simple chambray shirt and black jeans outfit a touch trendier. For when the weather warms up even more I'll definitely be wearing it with a flowwy sundress like this one, a cute maxi like this one, or a midi dress like this one . For early spring, when the air still has a little bite to it, I paired it with black high-waisted jeans, a chambray shirt, and my favorite booties!
The Top Version
The last scarf trend I want to talk about is one I am sooo excited for, for this summer! Using your square silk scarf as a top! I first started seeing this trend in resort lines with fun prints and and versatile ways to tie the scarf as a top. Free People has some of my favorite versions of this at great prices! They use their Mix Print Scarf as a bandeau top with a twist in the front or as a strapless top with it tied around back! Both are so perfect for festivals, to the beach, to casual cocktail hours with some high waisted linen pants or your fave denim shorts.
Scarves are your perfect versatile accessory for this season! Invest in a good one and you've got yourself a headband, neck-tie, top, handbag accessory, belt, etc.I wanted to feature this as my go-to accessory for the warm months because it has something to offer everyone from a myriad of style preferences
Below I've featured some that I love, that I highly reccomend shopping for (click the picture to shop)
