It's no secret that "everything old becomes new again" and that couldn't be more true for this fall fashion season. Nostalgia seems to be the vibe and street style has taken that and run with it. No decade seems to stand out more in fashion right now though then the 70's (incorporating a bit of the late 60's if we're going to be specific). For women this was a time of "owning it"- being a bad ass boss lady and fashionista all at once was the new aspiration (my current aspiration), and thats resonating with women again!
Nothing says 70's more than corduroys and I'm loving their return to main stream fashion. First in mini-skirt form and now getting bolder with high-rise crop flare cords like these ones from Urban Outfitters! Although I'm 99.9% sure I had this exact pair in 1st grade, I have no problem with wanting to wear them all day every day now as a 22 year old! Corduroy is definitely a fabric you'll be seeing a lot for fall street-style not only in pants, but also jackets, skirts, and even dresses.
It wouldn't be complete without a bell-sleeve top like this one. Featuring, of course, the plunging neckline and flowwy-ness of the times. This look gives all the flare and then some of a 70's gal in 2017. for a more every-day look wear it with smocked top or simple tee for the perfect cool-girl street style. Equally as quintessential to 70's style as the bell sleeve, are the round sunglasses with colored lenses, like these ones I'm wearing from Rayban. A subtle way to wear 70's style every day!
Now on to channeling some Stevie Nicks (minus the signature hat), with a more bohemian side to the 70's style. The jumpsuit is as iconic as Stevie is to the 70's style era and always brings the glam up a notch! This ruffled yellow one from Anthropologie is now sold out, but this yellow print jumpsuit is a perfect alternative!
Whether you're rocking an awesome yellow jumpsuit or white tee and jeans, the neck scarf is the perfect touch of nostalgic style. Mine is an old one from Target, but I'm loving this other printed one from Target too, I think it adds a perfect bit of sass and glam to an outfit. Of course the whole look wouldn't be complete without large gold hoops. I opted for a modern take on it with these ones from Madewell. Nothing says 70's glam without some over-sized gold hoops, am I right?! It wouldn't be the full look without mentioning the key shoe choice, mules, the shoe of the season. I've been living in these DV for Target ones.
Perfect your fall street style with trends from 70's, whether their big or small they add a little flare to an outfit. After all, the 70's started the rocker chick style, everyday sequins, and the jumpsuit.. I think it's about time we come back to the styles that got us to the fashionable point we're at today.
